About this event
We’re kicking off our first 2020 event with a killer lineup. We have not 1, not 2, but 3 of the fastest growing consumer product companies here in Utah: Ali Hynek from Nena & Co., Betsy Mikesell from Beddy’s, and Kory Stevens from Taft. We will have a group discussion on how they went from nothing to $5 Million in revenue and beyond.
Ali Hynek is a socially conscious entrepreneur, CEO, founder of Nena & Co., mother of 3 year old triplets, and a 10 month old baby. Ali runs the high end “bohemian couture” fashion brand that focuses on handbags and textiles with a focus on female empowerment. Nena & Co. celebrates the unique heritage and talents of artisans who weave Nena & Co.’s textiles around the world working in countries such as Guatemala, Mexico, Ghana, Morocco and the USA. With its responsible growth and strong community values, Nena & Co. uses the tagline “Wearing Values”. The success of Nena and Co. has allowed Ali to better the lives of hundreds of artisans and their families by providing a fair living wage, access to medical services, and offering opportunities for education while growing a community here in the USA of passionate Nena & Co. collectors.
Betsy Mikesell
Beddy's
Inspired by the struggle of keeping her twin boy’s beds tidy, Betsy created a zippered bedding prototype and launched Beddy’s with a 2014 Kickstarter campaign. Beddy’s growth has been recognized as one of Mountain West Capital’s fastest growing companies and just four years after launch, Beddy’s was named #270 on Inc’s 500 after demonstrating a four-year growth of 2,610%. The Inc. 5000 list also revealed that Beddy’s ranked #9 as one of the 10 fastest-growing private companies in Utah. After five years of continual growth, Betsy was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce in 2018. Beddy’s was recently chosen by Google as the only company to represent Utah in the Google Economic Report.
Beddy’s is headquartered in the Salt Lake valley where Betsy and her husband Gentry call home and are raising their three teenage children.
Kory Stevens
Taft
Kory and Mallory Stevens grew TAFT into a company valued at $15M+ in only 3 years. Come learn about their journey that started in a small two-bedroom apartment. In 2018, TAFT was #56 on Inc's 5000 List of fastest-growing private companies in America. Kory was a Forbes 30 Under 30 winner in 2018 and a Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019.
