Bio: Dr. Eggington has directed clinical genetics programs at Myriad Genetics, Courtagen Life Sciences, & 23andMe prior to co-founding a genetic diagnostics consultancy company in 2016. The need for a disruptive nonprofit organization became clear through this consulting work, and Dr. Eggington co-founded the Center for Genomic Interpretation in 2017. Dr. Eggington serves as CGI’s CEO, and is a member of CGI’s Board of Directors.

Bio: Faraz Shafiq leads data science and artificial intelligence efforts at Cambia. He is responsible for building the A.I. team to grow competitive advantage, capture significant savings and vastly improve consumer experience. Through big data, data science, and artificial intelligence, Cambia is delivering end-to-end analytics solutions, improving care and creating seamless experiences for our consumers.
Faraz brings more than 17 years of progressive experience with technology strategy, engineering, advance analytics and product management, along with a belief that there is great opportunity to make health care better for people and their families through innovative disruption. He joins Cambia from Verizon, where he worked as the Global Head of Data Science, A.I. and Internet of Things (IoT). Prior to Verizon, he led AT&T product development and management, formulating the IoT analytics strategy and offerings, IoT platform strategy and services, marketing support and formulating strategic partnerships.
Faraz is an established technology thought leader and serves as an executive advisor to Airbus in Paris, a CTO member for Forbes Technology Council, and on the board of directors for 5G-Map. His bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, and communications engineering as well as his Master of Business Administration are from University of California, Berkeley.

Bio: Jason Mark is the Director of Data Science & Natural Language Understanding for 3M Health Information Systems, Inc. Jason has been with 3M HIS since 2005. Prior to his current position, Jason has worked as the Emerging Business Technology Director for 3M HIS, as Chief Technology Officer for 3M HIS, and as Vice President, 3M HIS HIM Development. Jason joined 3M as the Development and Quality Assurance Manager for Care Innovation; working directly with Government and Commercial hospital customers to consistently deliver high quality software releases. Jason’s interests include technology, data science, running, snowboarding, and spending time with his daughters.
Dr. Charlene Weir
Professor of Biomedical Informatics

Bio: Dr. Charlene Weir is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah and the Associate Director for Education and Evaluation for the SLC GRECC as well as an investigator in the SLC IDEAS VA HSR&D center. Dr. Weir has a PhD in social cognitive psychology as well as a MS in Nursing. Her area of interest is in the application of motivation and cognitive theories as applied to the design and use of health information technologies. She is especially interested in integrative models of cognitive support that enhance the capability of the information system to support shared clinical decision-making, team coordination and effective implementation. She has extensive experience in the evaluation of technology interventions in healthcare, including the VA CPRS system. She has expertise in human factors research tools, experimental design techniques, measurement methodologies, cognitive task analysis as well as other qualitative techniques.

Bio: Jared is the Director of Strategic Relations for KLAS Research, a healthcare technology analyst firm. Starting his career in disability law, he quickly realized, after a number of clients were denied benefits due to a lack of medical records, that there are big problems in healthcare in need of solutions. He's spent the last 3 years with KLAS shining a light on healthcare technology and guiding vendors on the path to improved healthcare for the world. He received his undergraduate degree from Utah Valley University and is currently earning an MBA from Western Governors University.
