The Silicon Slopes community is coming together to give back and volunteer with Project Homeless Connect. Project Homeless Connect is a one-day event at the Salt Palace Convention Center where service providers and community volunteers will come together to provide services to those who are or are at risk of experiencing homelessness.
There are approximately 125 "done-in-a-day" services available such as medical vitals screenings, vision screenings and eyeglasses, dental work, haircuts, housing and employment opportunities, Medicaid enrollment, SNAP enrollment, veterans services, expungement, pet care and more. Community volunteers can register for one of 28 different roles including volunteer and client check-in, food prep and serving, street outreach or client guides. Each volunteer can sign-up for a 2-4 hour shift.
This event is not only about connecting our homeless friends to needed services, but about creating a meaningful connection where our homeless friends feel loved, appreciated, and perhaps most importantly, human.
