Melanie D. Jewkes is an Extension Professor with Utah State University, based in Salt Lake County. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Family Finance. With 15 years' experience in community educational programs, she oversees programs in family finance, nutrition and food preservation. Melanie D. Jewkes is an Extension Professor with Utah State University, based in Salt Lake County. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Family Finance. With 15 years' experience in community educational programs, she oversees programs in family finance, nutrition and food preservation. She directs the USU Extension HUD and USDA Rural Housing approved online homebuyer education course and the PowerPay program. Melanie successfully received more than $5.5 million in grant funding and has been awarded numerous national, regional and state awards for her efforts in improving the lives of people in Utah. She loves good dark chocolate, enjoys hiking with her husband and four kiddos, and plans to hike in all the national parks.
